The Centre of Radiation is the core project of the Light of Asia Foundation, which will have several academies linked to the Academy for Buddhist Research and Communication. The Light of Asia Foundation is committed to communicate the wealth of knowledge gathered by these academies on various aspects on the pristine philosophy of Buddhism to the global community using advanced information technology by 2011 –when we celebrate 2600 years of Buddhism.

The successful completion of VESAK 2009- International Buddhist Festival- focusing on over 200 Feature, Documentary and Short Films on Buddhist themes submitted by filmmakers from Sri Lanka,India, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada, Brazil and Poland has established a firm foundation to step up the activities in 2010, to target Sri Lanka to be the Centre of Radiation for Buddhism by Vesak 2011. The international release of the epic motion picture ‘ Siddhartha Gauthama- The Buddha’ now in pre-production to be Directed by acclaimed Shayam Benegal produced by the Light of Asia Foundation and over 500 films to be showcased at VESAK 2011 Festival will ensure Sri Lanka’s central role in the propagation of the philosophy of Buddhism to the world.
