
Devotional Songs and Exhibition
Devotional Songs, an integral part of Vesak were elevated to a new height at “Vesak 2009 - Festival”. Groups recited devotional songs, with video displays in the background on an illuminated stepped podium. Film Stars, students of D.S. Senanayaka College and members of the Peoples Bank were among those who presented devotional songs.
On the openning night, immediately after the presentation by the Film Stars, the Chairman of the National Film Corporation declared open the first Digital Pandal.
Several outstanding exhibitions were held as part of “Vesak 2009 – Festival”. An unprecedented display was the exhibition of replicas of archaeological and architectural monuments. Along with this, the process of producing Ola- Leaf books that preserved the docrine of the Buddha for generations was displayed.
This segment was presented under the guidance of Prof. Nimal Silva, the Director General of the Post Graduate Institute of Archaeology, supported by the Ananda College - Hela Sisu Havula. An impressive exhibition was presented by the Lanka Salt Company, highlighting ancient Buddhist sites from the deep south.
